Introduction.

Josh Stephens has been playing and competing at the highest level since a young age. Josh is a member of and the youngest ever winner of the Club Championship at the historic Moortown G C in Yorkshire, England, where the 1929 Ryder Cup was held.

Josh has represented England at School level, played for Yorkshire Boys since 2020 and has been a member of his England Regional Squad since 2021. With top 10 finishes in the Reid Trophy, Irish U16’s, North of England U16’s and a top 20 finish in the McGregor Trophy, Josh has been competing at an international level for quite some time.

In 2023 Josh was awarded a scholarship to attend Rossall School, who run arguably the best high school golf programme in the UK. Since which, Josh has gone on to make the cut at the English U18s, Spanish U18s, Carris Trophy and British Boys; he has also captained his Yorkshire team to victory at the English County Finals and won the IJGT WAGR International in Florida.

Josh is equally as strong academically and is searching for a suitable college to continue his studies whilst playing college golf from the Fall 2026.

Interview.

How would you describe yourself?

I am a sociable, confident person who enjoys meeting new people and taking on new challenges. I am very determined with my golf and passions. I love to learn and understand new improvements to my golf.

What age did you start playing golf and why?

I was 10 when I started playing due to Sergio Garcia winning the masters in 2017 as I was fascinated by the masters.

How would you say you have developed as a golfer over the past few years?

As I have physically matured I have been able to manage the increased speed in my game and also been able to keep a sharp short game. I feel my game has been on a consistent trend of steady improvement over the last few years due to the work I have put in with Steve Robinson on all aspects of my game. This work has helped me understand my own game much better which enables me to prepare and practise efficiently and to the best of my ability.

Who is your favourite golfer and why?

My two favourite golfers are Viktor Hovland and Jordan Speith. I like Hovland due to his positive and joyful outlook on golf and his excellent ball striking. Furthermore, I admire Jordan Speith’s short game and putting as it is something I would love to hone into my own game.

What do you intend to study and why?

At A level I am taking PE, Biology and Psychology and want to continue on that path of sports science as I am fascinated by our minds and how it affects performance and tendencies in sport and how we function under pressure.

Other than golf what else do you enjoy doing and why?

I enjoy watching many other sports, especially cricket. I also love animals, especially dogs. I like spending time with family and friends.
