Interview.
How would you describe yourself ?
I am a very friendly and outgoing individual, who works very well on my own but also thrive in a team environment. I am very determined, hard working and focussed when faced with a challenge. I have excellent leadership skills which have been proven in my role of captain for the Junior Tour Scotland team the last 2 years.
What age did you start playing golf and why ?
I started playing golf at the age of 8 when my grandpa cut down a golf club for me and let me hit plastic balls around their garden, then a family friend started taking me out on the course which then i fell in love with the game.
How would you say you have developed as a golfer over the past few years ?
As I have matured physically and mentally, I have been able to increase speed and distance into my game and being able to keep working as hard as I can through good and bad spells. I feel my game has been improving over the years whilst working with my coach Robert Douglas who has taught me many things about the golf swing and the way it works. This work has helped me understand my own game much better which enables me to prepare and practise efficiently to play the best I can. This has helped me build a great amount of discipline and attitude for when things don’t go my way.
Who is your favourite golfer and why ?
My Favourite golfer is Jason Day, I love to watch the way he plays and I admire his determination and grit when playing and practising. Through watching many videos and reading about him he has grown to be one of my favourite golfers as no matter what sets him back he keeps practising and performing to be the best he can.
What do you intend to study and why ?
During high school I enjoyed business subjects. I Studied Business Management at National 5 and at Higher level receiving an A in both, and in my final year I studied Higher Accounting which I received an A also. In my final year of school I was involved in a young enterprise group where my role was finance manager, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This has shown me my real passion for business-like subjects and made me realise this is something I’d like to pursue in the United States. I would like to study either business management, finance or economics as it’s something I have enjoyed and would be extremely interested to learn more about.
Other than golf what else do you enjoy doing and why ?
I am interested in many sports, my favourites being Rugby, football and tennis, which I played in school. I like to keep myself fit and healthy by working out in the gym and enjoy a bit of wild swimming too. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family while getting some down time away from practising and competing.
